Gugu Saldanha's late challenge caught a Itajaí Football Club's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gugu Saldanha helped the player get up and apologised. After 10 played minutes Quebra Ossos FC got a freekick which was hit by Gugu Saldanha. After some careless play in the Quebra Ossos FC defense, Conrado Miranda kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Richard Breckenfeld. The Quebra Ossos FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Richard Breckenfeld should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Conrado Miranda in the 14th minute of play forced Quebra Ossos FC's goalkeeper Richard Breckenfeld to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Aírton Queirós during the 14th minute. After 40 minutes of play, Itajaí Football Club's Marcelinho de Salles made it 0-7 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Richard Breckenfeld was left in no man's land by his defense there! Richard Breckenfeld came out of the goal in the 45th minute to try and stop a shot by Itajaí Football Club's Gilberto Arce. But to his dismay, Gilberto Arce quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-8. Marcelinho de Salles scored 0-9 in the 48th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Richard Breckenfeld, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-9 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
