Laércio Loureiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Tiago Godoi came out of the goal in the 6th minute to try and stop a shot by Inter de São Paulo's Pedro Donatello. But to his dismay, Pedro Donatello quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. When Laércio Loureiro came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Inter de São Paulo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Laércio Loureiro couldn't finish the play. Kléber Salles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ronaldo Crispín, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Laércio Loureiro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Tiago Godoi made a huge save. Tiago Godoi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Laércio Loureiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Laércio Loureiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Wanderson Melo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Kléber Salles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eugênio Gonçalves made in the 35th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Yaya Sow. After some careless play in the Inter de São Paulo defense, Wanderson Melo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kléber Salles. The Inter de São Paulo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kléber Salles should have stopped the shot. 41 minutes into the match, Laércio Loureiro notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of São Paulo F.C.'s Tiago Godoi. Tiago Godoi was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Laércio Loureiros short, quick shot in the 44thth minute got Tiago Godoi to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Laércio Loureiro struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Tiago Godoi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Inter de São Paulo.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Pedro Donatello was the one to do the kick off. 56 minutes into the game, Inter de São Paulo's Laércio Loureiro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tiago Godoi made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. Through an outstanding action, after 66 minutes, Kléber Salles successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 67th match minute, Inter de São Paulo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marquinhos Botelho to maneuver through the defense. Tiago Godoi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marquinhos Botelho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Yaya Sow kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. Kléber Salles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Yaya Sow in the 82nd minute of play. In the 83rd minute, Marquinhos Botelho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of São Paulo F.C. booed when Inter de São Paulo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marquinhos Botelho didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dida Doutté during the 88th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Inter de São Paulo's Dida Doutté got a free kick in the 88th minute. In the 89th minute of the match Wanderson Melo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Kléber Salles skillfully saved the ball. When Wanderson Melo fell near the penalty area in the 92nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored São Paulo F.C.'s protests and gave Wanderson Melo a yellow card for diving instead. After a defensive mix-up in Inter de São Paulo's zone, Ronaldo Crispín stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kléber Salles came out of the goal and Ronaldo Crispín tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 97th minute, Yaya Sow managed to get in a good position for a shot. São Paulo F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Yaya Sow was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kléber Salles breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
