Spectators: 148 (Terracing: 112, Seating: 34, VIP seats: 2) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Pedro Donatello started the match with the kick off. Sérgio das Neves took the ball and in the 2 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Kléber Salles. Kléber Salles dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. A collision led to Inter de São Paulo getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Dida Doutté hit a great ball. S E Palmeiras's Kléberson Cerezo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pedro Donatello in the 13th minute of play. After 16 minutes of play, S E Palmeiras's Sérgio das Neves made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Kléber Salles was left in no man's land by his defense there! The crowd rose to their feet as Pedro Donatello kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Kléberson Cerezo. That made the score 1-2 in the 21 minute of play. In the 24th match minute, Inter de São Paulo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eurico Penha to maneuver through the defense. Edu Cunha got a throw-in 28 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Nilson Perez. 33 minutes into the match, Inter de São Paulo's goal looked a bit too open when Nilson Perez came free, but Kléber Salles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eurico Penha kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. Kléber Salles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nilson Perez in the 35th minute of play. In the 42nd minute Sérgio das Neves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kléber Salles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, S E Palmeiras's Sérgio das Neves got a free kick in the 44th minute. Kléberson Cerezo made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Laércio Loureiro sent off a good shot on target. After the first half S E Palmeiras were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Inter de São Paulo's Yan Ceresso was substituted for César Alagoano. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sérgio das Neves stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Inter de São Paulo's Kléber Salles got control of the ball when Nilson Perez tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 60th minute, S E Palmeiras's Nilson Perez ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Kléber Salles. Kléber Salles yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-3. Kléber Salles showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aldo Casos in the 63rd minute of the match. 67 minutes into the game, Inter de São Paulo's Laércio Loureiro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Kléberson Cerezo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. After 70 played minutes S E Palmeiras got a freekick which was hit by Edu Cunha. Kléberson Cerezo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Laércio Loureiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laércio Loureiro in the 74th minute of play forced S E Palmeiras's goalkeeper Kléberson Cerezo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in S E Palmeiras's zone, Laércio Loureiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kléberson Cerezo came out of the goal and Laércio Loureiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kléberson Cerezo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gerson Coelho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 90th minute of the match Inter de São Paulo got a corner. S E Palmeiras's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Marquinhos Botelho ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Gerson Coelho got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Kléberson Cerezo quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sérgio das Neves in the 92nd minute of play forced Inter de São Paulo's goalkeeper Kléber Salles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. S E Palmeiras's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Teodoro Prado in the 93rd minute. In the 94th minute, Sérgio das Neves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Inter de São Paulo's Kléber Salles proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 96th minute of the match, managed to save Inter de São Paulo from getting a goal against them. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched S E Palmeiras eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
