In the 17th minute, Aldo Casos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. S E Palmeiras's Astor Aragones played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Buba Seco in the 24th minute of play. In the 25th minute Ronaldo Crispín shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Astor Aragones saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Celedonio Froila got in the 27th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Tiago Godoi handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. When Aldo Casos came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the S E Palmeiras fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aldo Casos couldn't finish the play. S E Palmeiras's Astor Aragones proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 68th minute of the match, managed to save S E Palmeiras from getting a goal against them.
