The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, S E Palmeiras's goal looked a bit too open when Freddy Basajaun came free, but Astor Aragones reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Joinville S.German-FSCMZ's Freddy Basajaun, in the 14th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Joinville S.German-FSCMZ. In the 16thth minute of the game Freddy Basajaun who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but S E Palmeiras's Astor Aragones was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Sandro Aguiar took the ball and in the 18 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Astor Aragones. Astor Aragones dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. In the 21st minute Freddy Basajaun shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Astor Aragones saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 26 minutes had been played when some careless play by Joinville S.German-FSCMZ's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Teodoro Prado was slow to take the kick. During this time S E Palmeiras's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on S E Palmeiras's corner Teodoro Prado fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Benny Stolpe quite easily take care of the ball. Astor Aragones showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Freddy Basajaun, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Freddy Basajaun might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Astor Aragones. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Freddy Basajaun ran back to his position shaking his head. Astor Aragones showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Freddy Basajaun, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. If Freddy Basajaun had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 40th minute the ball was on its way in behind S E Palmeiras's goalkeeper Astor Aragones, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 42nd minute of the match Joinville S.German-FSCMZ got a corner. S E Palmeiras's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Elias Vale ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Elias Vale got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Astor Aragones quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Freddy Basajaun blasted a shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Astor Aragones having to make a save. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lázaro Bortzaioriz to make the kick off. Maurício Vianna hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. Freddy Basajaun recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 60 minutes into the match, Lázaro Bortzaioriz notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of Joinville S.German-FSCMZ's Benny Stolpe. Benny Stolpe was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Benny Stolpe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aldo Casos in the 64th minute of play. 68 minutes into the game, Joinville S.German-FSCMZ's Freddy Basajaun nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Astor Aragones made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-4. 71 minutes into the match, Joinville S.German-FSCMZ's Freddy Basajaun sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Astor Aragones narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Freddy Basajaun could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 73rd minute of the match, but Astor Aragones made a huge save. S E Palmeiras's Astor Aragones proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save S E Palmeiras from getting a goal against them. In the 77th minute, Dawid Cupial hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Vladimir Albuquerque sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Astor Aragones made an important save on a dangerous shot by Vladimir Albuquerque in the 81st minute. In the 82nd minute, Vladimir Albuquerque ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Astor Aragones was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-5. 86 minutes into the game, Vladimir Albuquerque cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-6. Astor Aragones was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Benny Stolpe showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aldo Casos, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. A hard shot by Elias Vale from long distance, 95 minutes into the match, got Astor Aragones's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side.
