If Paul Albeanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 40th match minute, Calesso FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dorival Rezende to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Geert Wijgaert in the 46th minute of play forced Calesso FC's goalkeeper Serginho Nogueira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Geert Wijgaert to make the kick off.
