In the 17th minute, Mariano Lacasa ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Staffan Eckegren was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 19th minute Mariano Lacasa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Staffan Eckegren saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Guillermo Fontirroig fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Staffan Eckegren having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Baba Baba during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Staffan Eckegren took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mariano Lacasa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Matthias Bern in the 45thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Thiago Pliego, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 47 minutes into the match, Mariano Lacasa had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Staffan Eckegren. G A I S's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mariano Lacasa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mariano Lacasa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute Rafael Zaldua shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thiago Pliego saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Matthias Bern made a great header on G A I S's corner, it was just that Chile's Thiago Pliego managed to reach the ball for a save. If Norman Mabalane had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 60 minutes of play G A I S's Baba Baba was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Mariano Lacasa made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 78thth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Staffan Eckegren would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. Orlando Casaus's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Staffan Eckegren firmly grabbed it by the left post. G A I S made a substitution. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 93rd minute of play forced G A I S's goalkeeper Staffan Eckegren to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Chile's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
