Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Claudio Echeverri, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. In the 38th minute Claudio Echeverri shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 41st minute Mexico were awarded a corner. Joel Gaona went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 42nd minute, Joel Gaona made a precise shot to the right of Geovani de Salles. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Claudio Echeverri made a kick off. After having played for 51 minutes, Claudio Echeverri managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ríver Late's supporters crossed their fingers, but Claudio Echeverri was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Claudio Echeverri might have been able to make a better finish in the 55th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dante Lacasa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Claudio Echeverri ran back to his position shaking his head. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Claudio Echeverri in the 55th minute of play. Ríver Late made a substitution. Emiliano Gai replaced Rick Haremeijer. 67 minutes into the match, Emiliano Gai had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dante Lacasa. Mexico's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Emiliano Gai was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-4. Mexico's Alberto Tafalla got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 83rd minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Geovani de Salles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lautaro Mancebo got free with Geovani de Salles in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alberto Tafalla in the 90th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Geovani de Salles prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 92 minutes of play, Ríver Late's Emiliano Gai made it 2-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Dante Lacasa was left in no man's land by his defense there! The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Mexico eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
