Phil Clarke charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Phil Clarke the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Phil Clarke hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. Tim Johnstone showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. In the 16th minute, Phil Clarke got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With his leg Jonathan Ferrant managed to avoid a goal in the 18thth minute, when The Tigers's Carl Downes fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Jonathan Venegas got a free kick in the 22nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Kelvin Atherton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Kelvin Atherton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Carl Downes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. The Tigers's Carl Downes was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 31st play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. A collision led to The Tigers getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Carl Downes hit a great ball. Darius Hamer kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. Jonathan Ferrant didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 37th minute, which inside left pole to 3-0. If Patricio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Camilo Gaos hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Jose Correa got a free kick in the 46th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomas Illescas to make the kick off. 50 minutes into the game, Tomas Illescas recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Tim Johnstone. Tomas Illescas showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-1. 54 minutes into the match, Tomas Illescas dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Tim Johnstone, 3-2. Frankie Brookes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Carl Downes's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. Jonathan Ferrant didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Carl Downes went, in the 71st minute, to the upper right corner, 4-2 was the resulting score. Tim Johnstone made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tomas Illescas in the 76th minute. Tomas Illescas might have been able to make a better finish in the 81st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tim Johnstone. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tomas Illescas ran back to his position shaking his head. After 87 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Alex Chicote. In the 92nd minute The Tigers were awarded a corner. Kelvin Atherton went to the cornerflag to take it. Kelvin Atherton made a great header on The Tigers's corner, it was just that Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant managed to reach the ball for a save. The Tigers were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Venezuela for a fine match.
