Xande Xande in the 40thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Jacobo Nores, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Paraguay's Primitivo Escribano managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Aquiles Leonidas in the 44 minute of the game. When Xande Xande came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Flamengo FSCMZ fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Xande Xande couldn't finish the play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jaime Pardo made a kick off. The supporters of Paraguay booed when Flamengo FSCMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabiano de Medeiros didn't get a good kick on the ball. Xande Xande received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Jacobo Nores tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sven-Erik Harman in the 77th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jacobo Nores saved Paraguay from getting behind. Paraguay's Hector Covarrubias quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Régis Araújo, made in the 82nd minute of the game. Jacobo Nores showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Xande Xande, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute.
