Kalle Askberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agustín Saelices, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. After taking down the ball on Sundborn IF's corner Sven-Olof Stephansson fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Julio Vera quite easily take care of the ball. Kalle Askberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 21st minute of the match. Alf Hansson who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 23rdth minute tested the skills of Julio Vera when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Luis Andino got a free kick in the 26th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kalle Askberg breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 38th minute, Börje Ekström hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alf Hansson to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute Alf Hansson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 54 minutes, Kalle Askberg successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Ted Holmgren might have been able to make a better finish in the 56th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ted Holmgren ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ted Holmgren in the 68th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Sundborn IF booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camilo Gisbert didn't get a good kick on the ball. Camilo Gisbert hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. In the 81st minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. 94 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Erland Kvist came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Ecuador supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Ecuador would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
