Jaime Cazalla was slow to take the kick. During this time Uruguay's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Jaime Cazalla almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Goianésia E.C's Norbert Balonek did a great save. After a rather tough play, Goianésia E.C's Gabi Gol got a free kick in the 38th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tiago Cordeiro got free with Joaquin Gayoso in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Uruguay booed when Goianésia E.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hortêncio Senna didn't get a good kick on the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Maximiliano Escribano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Maximiliano Escribano received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Norbert Balonek came out and tried to block the shot, but Maximiliano Escribano slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 81st minute. Uruguay's attentive Alberto Gisbert managed to snatch the ball when Diego Almeida made a throw-in in the 87th minute of the game. Norbert Balonek made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francisco Seco in the 87th minute of play. In the 91st minute, Attila Kertész hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Francisco Seco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Norbert Balonek tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
