In the 12th minute Rain De Hond shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bruno Barrett saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 14 minutes into the game, Genk's Alexander Klemensson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Bruno Barrett made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vergil Rupov in the 24th minute of play forced Curacao's goalkeeper Bruno Barrett to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Curacao's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Rain De Hond 28 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 7-0. Curacao's Bruno Barrett proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 32nd minute of the match, managed to save Curacao from getting a goal against them. When the match had gone on for 33 minutes, Vergil Rupov took a quick shot and it went in 8-0 without a chance for Bruno Barrett to make any attempt to save it. After 36 minutes, Vergil Rupov made it 9-0 with a short kick to the right side. Curacao's Bruno Barrett tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 39thth minute of the game Vergil Rupov who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Curacao's Bruno Barrett was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Curacao's defense didn't have a chance, in the 42nd minute, when Vergil Rupov scored to the left of an out of position Bruno Barrett, making the score, 10-0. Vergil Rupovs short, quick shot in the 45thth minute got Bruno Barrett to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Suat Kaya could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Bruno Barrett made a huge save. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 10-0.

Genk's Michel Hakimi was substituted for Ariel Paris. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Kyle Davies to strike the kick off in the second half. When the match clock showed 53 minutes, the score became 11-0 when Vergil Rupov sped through Curacao's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Bruno Barrett. The audience was convinced that Vergil Rupov's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Bruno Barrett was relentless in the 58th minute of the game. Marshall Graham's late challenge caught a Genk's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marshall Graham helped the player get up and apologised. 63 minutes into the game, Genk's Rain De Hond nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Suat Kaya recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Vergil Rupov took the ball and in the 75 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Bruno Barrett. Bruno Barrett dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 15-0. Bruno Barrett took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vergil Rupov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 80 minutes, Vergil Rupov made it 16-0 with a short kick to the right side. Curacao's Bruno Barrett tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Bruno Barrett showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rain De Hond in the 85th minute of the match. In the 87thth minute of the game Vergil Rupov who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Curacao's Bruno Barrett was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vergil Rupov in the 95th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bruno Barrett saved Curacao from getting behind. After some careless play in the Curacao defense, Vergil Rupov kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Bruno Barrett. The Curacao fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Bruno Barrett should have stopped the shot. Genk's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
