Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Okaner Necmi went, in the 20th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. 23 minutes into the match, Erkut Cenan dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Benito Sanz, 4-0. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Eliseo Noboa hit a great ball. Erkut Cenan who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 32ndth minute tested the skills of Benito Sanz when he managed to save the team from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bedir Serdengeçti in the 33rd minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Costa Rica's zone, Okaner Necmi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benito Sanz came out of the goal and Okaner Necmi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Benito Sanz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Erkut Cenan in the 38th minute. 41 minutes into the match, F.C internazionale's Eraldo Pittelli sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Benito Sanz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Alexander Carballo got a free kick in the 42nd minute. Erkut Cenan in the 45thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Benito Sanz, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 47 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Erkut Cenan. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Benito Sanz didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when F.C internazionale's Erkut Cenan shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 7-0 in the ordered_time% minute. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eraldo Pittelli in the 65th minute of play. Bedir Serdengeçti scored 10-0 in the 67th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benito Sanz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Erkut Cenan went, in the 75th minute, to the upper right corner, 12-0 was the resulting score. Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Eraldo Pittelli went, in the 81st minute, to the upper right corner, 13-0 was the resulting score. F.C internazionale's Bedir Serdengeçti got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 86 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Erkut Cenan came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 91st minute, Bedir Serdengeçti left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The F.C internazionale fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 15-0. Eraldo Pittelli recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 95 minutes into the match, Erkut Cenan notched a goal, 16-0, to the right of Costa Rica's Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
