In the 18th minute, Fermin Precioso ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jacobo Nores was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Marco van Nistelrooij made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 21stth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Jacobo Nores would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. In the 22nd minute Caricancha were awarded a corner. Astor Senio went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Astor Senio got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Jacobo Nores quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 24 minutes into the match, Marco van Nistelrooij notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Paraguay's Jacobo Nores. Jacobo Nores was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Astor Senio kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. When Fermin Precioso fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Caricancha's protests and gave Fermin Precioso a yellow card for diving instead. Marco van Nistelrooij might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jacobo Nores. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Marco van Nistelrooij ran back to his position shaking his head. Marco van Nistelrooij scored 5-0 in the 37th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jacobo Nores, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Caricancha booed when Paraguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Xavier Zoido didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Fermin Precioso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 7-0 became the score in the 46th minute when Marco van Nistelrooij elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

A wasted opportunity for Caricancha. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fermin Precioso in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jacobo Nores saved Paraguay from getting behind. Jacobo Nores took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fermin Precioso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 97 minutes into the match, Paraguay's goal looked a bit too open when Fermin Precioso came free, but Jacobo Nores reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
