Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 7th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daniel Zorita to maneuver through the defense. 11 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Perivaldo Eger came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Henk Cardinaal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Perivaldo Eger could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Perivaldo Eger in the 16th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 19th minute the ball was on its way in behind De Pelgrims's goalkeeper Mike Zoetmulder, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 20th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Sebastián Puig to maneuver through the defense. In the 21st minute of the match, Henk Cardinaal tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Julio Vera saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 23rd minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mike Zoetmulder saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice moves Perivaldo Eger could shoot a difficult shot in the 25th minute, which Julio Vera however easily saved by the left post. The supporters of Ecuador booed when De Pelgrims was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Twan Mol didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Perivaldo Eger in the 30th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Daniel Zorita in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mike Zoetmulder prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mike Zoetmulder having to interfere. Mike Zoetmulder didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cristian Sancho went, in the 47th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Perivaldo Eger to make the kick off. 60 minutes into the match, De Pelgrims's goalkeeper Mike Zoetmulder had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. Mike Zoetmulder showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. 68 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Perivaldo Eger came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 69 minutes, Fu Peng Feng managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. De Pelgrims's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fu Peng Feng was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Montrel Perpiñán fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. 72 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Perivaldo Eger came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 74th minute, Perivaldo Eger made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices got a free kick in the 81st minute. Juan Sebastián Puig hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. In the 85th minute, Twan Mol hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Erben Roelofs fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Perivaldo Eger, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 90th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Montes to maneuver through the defense. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Henk Cardinaal, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than De Pelgrims.
