Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from George Lucas went, in the 9th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. 16 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when George Lucas came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alan Moruga during the 17th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Alan Moruga kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. In the 18th minute of the match Filomeno Bladi sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Benito Sanz skillfully saved the ball. Abel Carballo kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. After 19 played minutes, αѕαɗо γ ςαвεʀηετ's David Antunes shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Benito Sanz came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in αѕαɗо γ ςαвεʀηετ reached it. After 23 minutes of play, αѕαɗо γ ςαвεʀηετ's George Lucas made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benito Sanz was left in no man's land by his defense there! Costa Rica were furious when Alex Casaus was red carded, 28 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. 27 minutes into the game, one of Costa Rica:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave αѕαɗо γ ςαвεʀηετ a penalty, 29 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Moritz Riedel, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Costa Rica's Benito Sanz. 4-0. An unexpected shot in the 31st minute by Esteve Lando got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when αѕαɗо γ ςαвεʀηετ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Moritz Riedel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from George Lucas went, in the 37th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-0 was the resulting score. The audience thought a goal was coming when Esteve Lando got free with Benito Sanz in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If George Lucas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match clock showed 46 minutes, the score became 6-0 when George Lucas sped through Costa Rica's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 6-0.

The supporters of αѕαɗо γ ςαвεʀηετ booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alan Moruga didn't get a good kick on the ball. Filomeno Bladi struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Benito Sanz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for αѕαɗо γ ςαвεʀηετ. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from George Lucas in the 63rd minute of the match. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Juan Rubio hit a great ball. After 72 minutes, Esteve Lando made it 9-0 with a short kick to the right side. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After 76th play minutes George Lucas shot 10-0, a short shot which went by Benito Sanz and just under the crossbar into goal. αѕαɗо γ ςαвεʀηετ made a substitution. Don Cañon replaced Esteve Lando. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Filomeno Bladi in the 81st minute of play. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, George Lucas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. In the 87th minute George Lucas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 90 minutes into the match, Don Cañon had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Don Cañon was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 12-0. αѕαɗо γ ςαвεʀηετ made a substitution. Leandro Teofilio replaced George Lucas. In the 97th minute, Leandro Teofilio left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The αѕαɗо γ ςαвεʀηετ fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 13-0.
