The Ecuador fans' excitement grew in the 5th match minute when Ecuador's Daniel Zorita looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 11 minutes into the game, Felix Montenegro cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Kristen Gulskov was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Axel Ree got free with Julio Vera in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Julio Vera was out of position in the 23 minute of play, and Axel Ree capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Axel Ree really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. 26 minutes into the match, Monks in Robes's Axel Ree sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Axel Ree got free with Julio Vera in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Daniel Zorita in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Kristen Gulskov prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that Daniel Zorita's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kristen Gulskov was relentless in the 33rd minute of the game. Axel Ree's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. 38 minutes into the match, Monks in Robes's Axel Ree sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Primitivo Andino kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. When Axel Ree came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Monks in Robes fans jumped to their feet. After a defensive mix-up in Monks in Robes's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kristen Gulskov came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Axel Ree stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Axel Ree managed to get in a good position for a shot. Monks in Robes's supporters rose to their feet, but Axel Ree was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 65 minutes into the match, Axel Ree had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Axel Ree was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. A collision led to Monks in Robes getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Kris Garmer hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Monks in Robes's Axel Ree got a free kick in the 70th minute. After 71 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Zorita. After a defensive mix-up in Monks in Robes's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kristen Gulskov came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Axel Ree's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 84th minute of the game. The supporters of Monks in Robes booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agustín Saelices didn't get a good kick on the ball. Axel Ree blasted a shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. 90 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Axel Ree came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Axel Ree went, in the 93rd minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. The Monks in Robes support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
