After 14 minutes, Felice Cirigliano mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lunatics of Arianrhod and the Mexico players grew even worse after the yellow card. Felice Cirigliano hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. Cristoforo Tammaro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Facundo Cadaval in the 16th minute of play. After 20 played minutes Lunatics of Arianrhod got a freekick which was hit by Dário Pereira. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Joel Hibai managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lunatics of Arianrhod's supporters rose to their feet, but Joel Hibai was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dante Lacasa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 27 minutes into the match, Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Joel Hibai. Dante Lacasa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Joel Hibai's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 30th minute of play forced Lunatics of Arianrhod's goalkeeper Cristoforo Tammaro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joel Gaona took the ball and in the 30 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Cristoforo Tammaro. The supporters of Lunatics of Arianrhod booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luca Zorita didn't get a good kick on the ball. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Lunatics of Arianrhod's Ernesto Martini in the 44th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Dante Lacasa was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Mexico through an amazing save. Cristoforo Tammaro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Tafalla, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 47 minutes, Lorenzo Cazalla mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mexico and the Lunatics of Arianrhod players grew even worse after the yellow card. Lunatics of Arianrhod's Francesco Romino was substituted for Walter Giusti. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Francesco Romino was the one to do the kick off. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ernesto Martini in the 53rd minute of play. 59 minutes into the game, Luca Zorita recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Cristoforo Tammaro. Felix Luque was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 62 minutes into the match. In the 68th minute the ball was on its way in behind Lunatics of Arianrhod's goalkeeper Cristoforo Tammaro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Lunatics of Arianrhod's Ernesto Martini got a free kick in the 72nd minute. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ernesto Martini, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. 78 minutes in the game Ernesto Martini did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Johan Ström. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 79th minute of the game. One of Mexico:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Lunatics of Arianrhod:s goal. In the 83rd minute Joel Hibai shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 85th minute, Lautaro Mancebo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Francesco Romino in the 90th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 91st match minute, Mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lorenzo Cazalla to maneuver through the defense.
