Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Candelaria FC's Arnaldo Marquez started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 3rd minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. In the 8th minute, Okanalp Özdil hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arnaldo Marquez in the 12th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Arnaldo Marquez in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Danilo Testa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 15th minute of the match. A well-hit corner resulted in Felix Montenegro heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. 20 minutes had been played when some careless play by Candelaria FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. Agustín Saelices kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. Arnaldo Marquez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Candelaria FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marciano Lekubegi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Danilo Testa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 46th minute of play. When Sabastian Rodriguez fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Candelaria FC's protests and gave Sabastian Rodriguez a yellow card for diving instead. 49 minutes into the match, Candelaria FC's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Danilo Testa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. Candelaria FC's Danilo Testa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agustín Saelices in the 53rd minute of play. After having played for 56 minutes, Timoteo Michael managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Candelaria FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Timoteo Michael was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Danilo Testa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 65th match minute, Candelaria FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sabastian Rodriguez to maneuver through the defense. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Timoteo Michael, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christian Gómez in the 73rd minute of play. Antonio Arias hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. Arnaldo Marquez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Arnaldo Marquez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 97th minute of the match Candelaria FC got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Silvano Porfirio ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Candelaria FC's corner Marciano Lekubegi fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Julio Vera quite easily take care of the ball.
