Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Arnaldo Marquez started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. The audience was convinced that Arnaldo Marquez's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 3rd minute of the game. Danilo Testa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Felix Montes hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christian Gómez, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. Ecuador's Felix Montenegro got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Danilo Testa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 33rd minute of play. Arnaldo Marquez took the ball and in the 35 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Julio Vera. Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Christian Gómez managed to get in a good position for a shot. Candelaria FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Christian Gómez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 43 minutes of play, Candelaria FC's Okanalp Özdil made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! With his leg Julio Vera managed to avoid a goal in the 47thth minute, when Candelaria FC's Arnaldo Marquez fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Arnaldo Marquez in the 53rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Danilo Testa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Sabastian Rodriguez kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Candelaria FC's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Danilo Testa came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Timoteo Michael had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Danilo Testa having to interfere. 78 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Arnaldo Marquez came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Candelaria FC's Danilo Testa got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 83rd minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led to Ecuador's Luis Andino getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Danilo Testa in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 91st match minute, Candelaria FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Timoteo Michael to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 94 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Candelaria FC support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
