When the match had gone on for 15 minutes, Diego Milito took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Julio Vera to make any attempt to save it. Abel Neron made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 18th minute of play. Abel Neron showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agustín Saelices, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Deportivo Balvanera's Abel Neron played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agustín Saelices in the 31st minute of play. In the 37th minute, Ernesto Argoitz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Abel Neron tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Candido Jakes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Abel Neron breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Severiano Taurino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Deportivo Balvanera were awarded a corner in the 57th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Marciano Koldobika took the corner. Juan Sebastián Puig thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Julio Vera, a very annoying self made goal in the 57th minute which led to 2-0. Abel Neron made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 62nd minute. Felix Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Abel Neron tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Severiano Taurino in the 67th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 67th minute, Severiano Taurino ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. In the 70th minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Deportivo Balvanera's Diego Milito in the 77th minute got a chance for a shot 77th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. Deportivo Balvanera were furious when Adolfo Poz was red carded, 82 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Abel Neron. Daniel Zorita did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 3-2 to the left of a surprised Abel Neron 89 minutes into the match. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Severiano Taurino in the 94th minute of the match.
