Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Loco Loco went, in the 4th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Kristian Martinsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Axel Tasis, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. In the 8th minute Loco Loco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 10 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Lautaro Puig. Qiao Qi Bo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 13th minute of the match, managed to save Costa Rica from getting a goal against them. Lautaro Puig sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Qiao Qi Bo struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Benito Sanz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fenerbahçe S.K.. Qiao Qi Bo's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 20thth minute, Benito Sanz skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Qiao Qi Bo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Loco Loco came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Fenerbahçe S.K. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Loco Loco couldn't finish the play. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Loco Loco in the 28th minute of the match. Loco Loco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 34 minutes into the match, Loco Loco had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Loco Loco was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Loco Loco managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fenerbahçe S.K.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Loco Loco was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benito Sanz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpected shot in the 40th minute by Qiao Qi Bo got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 42nd minute, Qiao Qi Bo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Fenerbahçe S.K. fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Axel Tasis to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when Fenerbahçe S.K. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 50 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felice Patricelli didn't get a good kick on the ball. 52 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's Eliseo Noboa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kristian Martinsson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Qiao Qi Bo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 60 minutes into the match, Loco Loco notched a goal, 5-0, to the right of Costa Rica's Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Benito Sanz came out of the goal in the 70th minute to try and stop a shot by Fenerbahçe S.K.'s Qiao Qi Bo. But to his dismay, Qiao Qi Bo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-0. When Axel Tasis fell near the penalty area in the 74th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Axel Tasis a yellow card for diving instead. Daniel Trillkott struck a weak shot in the 81st minute.
