El Salvador's Ricardo Zorita played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristóvão Linares in the 4th minute of play. Rodriguinho de Queirós was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Acácio Ortiz blasted a shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ricardo Zorita having to make a save. A collision led to Imbituba - FSCMZ getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Fiori Barreto hit a great ball. Imbituba - FSCMZ's Rodriguinho de Queirós played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Moises Fernandino in the 24th minute of play. After 35 minutes of play, Imbituba - FSCMZ's Cristóvão Linares made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ricardo Zorita was left in no man's land by his defense there! 39 minutes into the match, Moises Fernandino notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Imbituba - FSCMZ's Rodriguinho de Queirós. Rodriguinho de Queirós was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Luis Rubio's late challenge caught a Imbituba - FSCMZ's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luis Rubio helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Imbituba - FSCMZ booed when El Salvador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luis Rubio didn't get a good kick on the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Moises Fernandino stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After having played for 60 minutes, Moises Fernandino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. El Salvador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Moises Fernandino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jesus Carvallo lost his temper 63 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. 69 minutes into the match, Imbituba - FSCMZ's Acácio Ortiz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ricardo Zorita narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Moises Fernandino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vinícius Leão kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. 76 minutes into the match, Imbituba - FSCMZ's goalkeeper Rodriguinho de Queirós had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Moises Fernandino. Ricardo Zorita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Acácio Ortiz in the 79th minute of the match. In the 80th minute the ball was on its way in behind El Salvador's goalkeeper Ricardo Zorita, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 82 minutes of play, Imbituba - FSCMZ's Acácio Ortiz made it 5-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ricardo Zorita was left in no man's land by his defense there! Acácio Ortiz took the ball and in the 87 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ricardo Zorita. Ricardo Zorita dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 6-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristóvão Linares in the 95th minute of play forced El Salvador's goalkeeper Ricardo Zorita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Imbituba - FSCMZ's Rodriguinho de Queirós proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 97th minute of the match, managed to save Imbituba - FSCMZ from getting a goal against them. El Salvador's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
