Spectators: 42 (Terracing: 32, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. After 7 played minutes Fenerbahce ISTANBUL got a freekick which was hit by Filip Soetemans. 8 minutes into the match, Fenerbahce ISTANBUL's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Hu Jian Zhan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 10 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Henrik Henriksson. After having played for 11 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 19 minutes into the game, Henrik Henriksson recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Julio Vera. Henrik Henriksson showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. Henrik Henriksson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. Hu Jian Zhan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Montenegro, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Fenerbahce ISTANBUL's Hu Jian Zhan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 38th minute of play. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Henrik Henriksson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

After 51 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Primitivo Andino. In the 60th minute Henrik Henriksson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fenerbahce ISTANBUL's Hu Jian Zhan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to save Fenerbahce ISTANBUL from getting a goal against them. Hu Jian Zhan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 69 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cristian Sancho had several of the Fenerbahce ISTANBUL's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 77 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-2 score and a disappointed Hu Jian Zhan as he didn't even see the shot coming. Ye Xiang Zheng sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Henrik Henriksson in the 83rd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Hu Jian Zhan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Hu Jian Zhan made a huge save. The corner ended in Daniel Zorita almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Fenerbahce ISTANBUL's Hu Jian Zhan did a great save. The referee felt a red card was in order, 95 minutes into the game, when Antonio Arias put in a rough tackle. After 95 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Ecuador! In the 97th minute there was a penalty for Fenerbahce ISTANBUL. Battal Seyyit Asır stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Julio Vera. 3-2. Many of Ecuador's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but Fenerbahce ISTANBUL were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
