Sergiu Coșeriu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Claudiu Băsescu kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 8th minute of play forced Academia Rio's goalkeeper Gigel Tilea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Academia Rio's Gigel Tilea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 10th minute of play. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Avram Pârvan in the 13th minute of play. Gigel Tilea made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 14th minute of play. In the 16th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Agustín Saelices to maneuver through the defense. In the 21st minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gigel Tilea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Avram Pârvan struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Academia Rio. In the 28th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Gigel Tilea made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 32nd minute of play. In the 35th minute Felix Montenegro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gigel Tilea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Felix Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gigel Tilea having to interfere. In the 43rd minute, Daniel Zorita left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. 48 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Sergiu Coșeriu came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Avram Pârvan made the kick off in the second half. Avram Pârvan struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Avram Pârvan, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The throw-in from Camilo Gisbert in the 89th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Academia Rio's Avram Tudor. After having played for 93 minutes, Avram Pârvan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Academia Rio's supporters crossed their fingers, but Avram Pârvan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Academia Rio fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
