In the 17th minute of the match KANONIERZY got a corner. Mexico's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gösta Söderberg ran over to the corner to take the kick. When Lautaro Mancebo fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mexico's protests and gave Lautaro Mancebo a yellow card for diving instead. Lautaro Mancebo hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. In the 19th minute, KANONIERZY's Ali Hamza Hanefi dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. Christian Abbiati made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 24th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 25th minute of play forced KANONIERZY's goalkeeper Christian Abbiati to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 25 minutes of play, Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Christian Abbiati was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Mexico booed when KANONIERZY was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ime Mavros didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ali Hamza Hanefi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dante Lacasa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. 42 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Gösta Söderberg came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ali Hamza Hanefi made a kick off. If Alberto Tafalla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luca Zorita was extremely unlucky when he, in the 81st minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Gösta Söderberg ran back to his position shaking his head. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Facundo Cadaval managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Facundo Cadaval was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Christian Abbiati breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
