Atlético de Crisal's Cido Valle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Berganza in the 21st minute of play. 22 minutes into the game, Panama's Abraham Alguacil nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Cido Valle made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. 29 minutes into the game, Miguel Miralles was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Panama's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Atlético de Crisal the free kick. After 29 played minutes Panama got a freekick which was hit by Miguel Miralles. 33 minutes into the match, Panama's goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Romarinho Silva. An unexpectedly hard shot by Abraham Alguacil in the 34th minute of play forced Atlético de Crisal's goalkeeper Cido Valle to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tomas Berganza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Mauro Galvão fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Atlético de Crisal's protests and gave Mauro Galvão a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Panama booed when Atlético de Crisal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mauro Galvão didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Kaká Ferreira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Atlético de Crisal's supporters rose to their feet, but Kaká Ferreira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcos Cotilla breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 46thth minute of the game Tomas Berganza who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Atlético de Crisal's Cido Valle was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kaká Ferreira was the one to do the kick off. If Tomas Berganza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tomas Berganza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cido Valle having to interfere. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! The Panama players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
