Paraguay's Primitivo Escribano managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Ivon Gasca in the 6 minute of the game. In the 11th match minute, Ajax Colombiano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bitxintxo Lobado to maneuver through the defense. Lorenz Ureta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jaime Pardo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 14 minutes Ajax Colombiano's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Jaime Pardo who took care of the corner kick. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Ajax Colombiano's goalie and right to Juan Diego Tenorio. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Ajax Colombiano's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. 16 minutes into the match, Paraguay's goalkeeper Jacobo Nores had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Baba Ba. In the 23rd match minute, Ajax Colombiano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dimitri Payet to maneuver through the defense. Hector Covarrubias struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Lorenz Ureta didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Paraguay. In the 43rd minute Baba Ba shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacobo Nores saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Primitivo Escribano kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. 47 minutes into the game, Joppe Hvenegaard was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ajax Colombiano's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Paraguay the free kick. A collision led to Ajax Colombiano getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Joppe Hvenegaard hit a great ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jaime Pardo was the one to do the kick off. 56 minutes had been played when some careless play by Paraguay's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Dimitri Payet was slow to take the kick. During this time Ajax Colombiano's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Dimitri Payet almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Paraguay's Jacobo Nores did a great save. 57 minutes into the match, Baba Ba notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Paraguay's Jacobo Nores. Jacobo Nores was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ajax Colombiano's Hector Ferman was substituted for Pudes Checa. Paraguay's Jacobo Nores played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Baba Ba in the 61st minute of play. Primitivo Escribano kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. Dimitri Payet took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 68th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Jacobo Nores. Paraguay's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Jacobo Nores didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Amado Ba went, in the 74th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. The supporters of Paraguay booed when Ajax Colombiano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ignacio Jofre didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 78 minutes, Ivon Gasca managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ajax Colombiano's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ivon Gasca was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ivon Gasca in the 82nd minute of play forced Paraguay's goalkeeper Jacobo Nores to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Amado Ba made in the 83rd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Paraguay's Alan Campos. Dimitri Payet's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jacobo Nores read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. In the 87th minute of the match Ajax Colombiano got a corner. Paraguay's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Dimitri Payet ran over to the corner to take the kick. If Baba Ba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Amado Ba fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacobo Nores having to interfere.
