After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Cecilio Tristan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Abuba Akotonon FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Cecilio Tristan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joaquin Gayoso breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Francisco Seco in the 16th minute of play forced Abuba Akotonon FC's goalkeeper Hugo Orlando Gatti to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Alberto Gisbert fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Uruguay's protests and gave Alberto Gisbert a yellow card for diving instead. Abuba Akotonon FC made a substitution. Ramón Garay replaced Genaro Elivareo. After a rather tough play, Uruguay's Alberto Gisbert got a free kick in the 47th minute.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Francisco Seco to strike the kick off in the second half. 57 minutes in the game Jaime Cazalla did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Maximiliano Escribano. Hugo Orlando Gatti showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maximiliano Escribano, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. In the 78thth minute of the game Cecilio Tristan who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Abuba Akotonon FC were awarded a corner in the 79th minute after Uruguay's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Vânderson Barbosa took the corner. In the 86th minute Cecilio Tristan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquin Gayoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vânderson Barbosa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
