The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 8th minute of the game. One of Paraguay:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of R.B Leipzig:s goal. When the match had been going on for 10 minutes, R.B Leipzig's Fausto Bucesta got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Jacobo Nores. 14 minutes into the game, Jorge Vicente Lopes Maciel cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Jacobo Nores was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fausto Bucesta in the 19th minute of play forced Paraguay's goalkeeper Jacobo Nores to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. R.B Leipzig's Jorge Vicente Lopes Maciel got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 39th minute, Fausto Bucesta got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jacobo Nores showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jorge Vicente Lopes Maciel in the 42nd minute of the match. If Jorge Vicente Lopes Maciel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jorge Vicente Lopes Maciel received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Jacobo Nores came out and tried to block the shot, but Jorge Vicente Lopes Maciel slotted it home off the left post making it 3-0 in the 46th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

In the 53rd minute R.B Leipzig were awarded a corner. Fausto Bucesta went to the cornerflag to take it. Jacobo Nores showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jorge Vicente Lopes Maciel, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. After a rather tough play, Paraguay's Hector Covarrubias got a free kick in the 60th minute. Jacobo Nores made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jorge Vicente Lopes Maciel in the 61st minute of play. Paraguay's attentive Alan Campos managed to snatch the ball when Jorge Vicente Lopes Maciel made a throw-in in the 86th minute of the game. The R.B Leipzig fans' excitement grew in the 88th match minute when R.B Leipzig's Jorge Vicente Lopes Maciel looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 5-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Jacobo Nores showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fausto Bucesta in the 92nd minute of the match. After 97 minutes of play R.B Leipzig's Wang Shu Guang was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The supporters of Paraguay booed when R.B Leipzig was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 98 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wang Shu Guang didn't get a good kick on the ball. The R.B Leipzig support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
