Curcio Alonso who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 4thth minute tested the skills of Benito Sanz when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nektarios Vrachopoulos, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. 9 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cosmin Mihuleac. In the 10th minute, Abel Carballo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A hard shot by Remir Martínez from long distance, 11 minutes into the match, got Benito Sanz's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Benito Sanz was a little too slow when Lucas Montaña got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 20th minute. The score was now 1-0. The supporters of Vodka Stars 1949 booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lautaro Puig didn't get a good kick on the ball. 25 minutes into the game, Vodka Stars 1949's Lucas Montaña nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Benito Sanz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. When Aaron Alcocer fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Aaron Alcocer a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Aaron Alcocer hit a great ball. Erik Véber fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. Benito Sanz was a little too slow when Curcio Alonso got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 36th minute. The score was now 3-0. 41 minutes into the game, Vodka Stars 1949's Curcio Alonso nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Benito Sanz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Eliseo Noboa got a free kick in the 47th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Curcio Alonso to strike the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Curcio Alonso in the 51st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Benito Sanz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 58th minute, Curcio Alonso left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Vodka Stars 1949 fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. After 64 minutes of play, Vodka Stars 1949's Martin Batalla made it 6-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benito Sanz was left in no man's land by his defense there! Vodka Stars 1949 made a substitution. Santos Valladolid replaced Edmundo London. In the 71st minute Curcio Alonso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cosmin Mihuleac in the 74th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Juan Rubio hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. 77 minutes into the game, Vodka Stars 1949's Curcio Alonso nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Benito Sanz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 8-0. When Vodka Stars 1949's Martin Batalla in the 82nd minute got a chance for a shot 82nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Costa Rica's goalie prevented a goal. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cosmin Mihuleac, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Cosmin Mihuleac kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. When the referee ended the match the Vodka Stars 1949 players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
