In the 14th minute Lautaro Mancebo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ruben Sánchez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 18th minute, Alberto Tafalla ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ruben Sánchez was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 22nd minute, Martin Palermo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dante Lacasa was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. La Candela FC's Ruben Sánchez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Gaona in the 30th minute of play. 34 minutes into the game, Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ruben Sánchez made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. 41 minutes into the match, La Candela FC's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but Ruben Sánchez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ruben Sánchez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 44th minute of the match.

The wind increased when Joel Gaona made the kick off in the second half. When Mexico's Joel Gaona in the 55th minute got a chance for a shot 55th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye La Candela FC's goalie prevented a goal. La Candela FC's Rodolfo Arruabarrena was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Dante Lacasa in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Ruben Sánchez made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Facundo Cadaval sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Mexico booed when La Candela FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sebastián Battaglia didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ruben Sánchez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. La Candela FC's Rubén-Darío Feldmann was substituted for Luis Medero. La Candela FC's Cristian Medina was substituted for Sebastián Battaglia. 74 minutes in the game Macos Graciani did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Lautaro Mancebo. Lautaro Mancebo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 91st minute of the match, but Ruben Sánchez made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rubén-Darío Feldmann in the 93rd minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, La Candela FC's Nahuel Molina got a free kick in the 95th minute. If Facundo Cadaval had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Mexico's Alberto Tafalla got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the match was over Mexico could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than La Candela FC throughout the match.
