In the 9th minute, União Desportiva Airão's Nivaldo Lameirinhas ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jacobo Nores. Jacobo Nores yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Jacobo Nores made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wilson Dantas in the 14th minute. In the 16th minute, Jaime Pardo made a precise shot to the right of Victorino Ebardo. União Desportiva Airão's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Victorino Ebardo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jaime Pardo went, in the 19th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Jacobo Nores made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ademar Bulhosa in the 22nd minute. 23 minutes into the match, Wilson Dantas had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jacobo Nores. Paraguay's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Wilson Dantas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. An unexpected shot in the 32nd minute by Nivaldo Lameirinhas got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. When the match had gone on for 34 minutes, Nivaldo Lameirinhas took a quick shot and it went in 4-2 without a chance for Jacobo Nores to make any attempt to save it. Nivaldo Lameirinhas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jacobo Nores having to make a save. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-2. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The audience was convinced that Jaime Pardo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Victorino Ebardo was relentless in the 52nd minute of the game. After 52 played minutes Paraguay got a freekick which was hit by Xavier Zoido. If Ademar Bulhosa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zé Prata fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacobo Nores having to interfere. Xavier Zoido kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. Nivaldo Lameirinhas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 72 minutes, Zé Prata mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the União Desportiva Airão and the Paraguay players grew even worse after the yellow card.
