Marcos Cotilla was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Marcos Cotilla made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Angelo Milanese sent off a good shot on target. Panama were furious when Dylan Sarmiento was red carded, 27 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 28th minute, Dylan Sarmiento hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Panama's Miguel Miralles got a free kick in the 32nd minute. Panama's Marcos Cotilla played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ludwig Hanstein in the 36th minute of play. Panama's defense didn't have a chance, in the 40th minute, when Önder Cebi scored to the left of an out of position Marcos Cotilla, making the score, 4-0. From close distance Emanuel Ogășanu pressed in the 5-0 goal high up into nets stiches in the right cross 44 minutes into the game.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Emanuel Ogășanu stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Angelo Milanese left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sydney FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 6-0. Marcos Cotilla took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emanuel Ogășanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 56th minute, Angelo Milanese ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Marcos Cotilla was frozen by the shot and now it was 7-0. After a defensive mix-up in Panama's zone, Önder Cebi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcos Cotilla came out of the goal and Önder Cebi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 63rd minute, Emanuel Ogășanu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Marcos Cotilla was frozen by the shot and now it was 8-0. Panama's Marcos Cotilla played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Önder Cebi in the 66th minute of play. Marcos Cotilla showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Önder Cebi, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. Sydney FC's Sebastian Titz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Berganza in the 67th minute of play. Marcos Cotilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adam Daller in the 71st minute of play. Marcos Cotilla showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Önder Cebi, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. Sydney FC were awarded a corner in the 79th minute after Panama's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ferdinand Mendy took the corner. After taking down the ball on Sydney FC's corner Ferdinand Mendy fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Marcos Cotilla quite easily take care of the ball. 88 minutes into the match, Önder Cebi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Marcos Cotilla. Panama's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Önder Cebi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 9-0. Panama's Marcos Cotilla played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Önder Cebi in the 92nd minute of play. The audience was convinced that Angelo Milanese's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Marcos Cotilla was relentless in the 95th minute of the game.
