But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. After having played for 8 minutes, Felix Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Felix Montenegro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Juventus FC's Mansour Buffon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 17th minute of play. The corner led Ecuador's Agustín Saelices to a score. 0-1 in the 19th minute. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rolando Arenas's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Julio Vera firmly grabbed it by the left post. Daniel Zorita kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. 29 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mansour Buffon. The score was now 0-5. Thanks to some nice moves Daniel Zorita could shoot a difficult shot in the 61st minute, which Mansour Buffon however easily saved by the left post. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 62th minute after Juventus FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. The corner led Ecuador's Luis Andino to a score. 0-6 in the 63rd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Mansour Buffon in the 73rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Mansour Buffon was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Cristian Sancho showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-8 in the 73 minute of play. Mansour Buffon was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Juventus FC throughout the match.
