The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Fabrício Dionísio came up free with the goalie in the 4th minute, the Onze Bravos FC - FDFDF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fabrício Dionísio couldn't finish the play. The crowd rose to their feet as Dorival Alvarenga kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Benito Sanz. That made the score 1-0 in the 11 minute of play. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dorival Alvarenga, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Benito Sanz came out of the goal in the 17th minute to try and stop a shot by Onze Bravos FC - FDFDF's Dedê Neiva. But to his dismay, Dedê Neiva quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dorival Alvarenga, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. 21 minutes into the game, Dorival Alvarenga cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Benito Sanz made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Dorival Alvarenga sent off a good shot on target. In the 30th minute, Dedê Neiva ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benito Sanz was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Fabrício Dionísio managed to get in a good position for a shot. Onze Bravos FC - FDFDF's supporters rose to their feet, but Fabrício Dionísio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benito Sanz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 43rd minute Dorival Alvarenga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabrício Dionísio in the 44th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 6-0 at half-time.

Costa Rica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Onze Bravos FC - FDFDF the free kick. The supporters of Onze Bravos FC - FDFDF booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliseo Noboa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marcus de Godoi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 83 minutes into the match, Fabrício Dionísio had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fabrício Dionísio was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 11-0. Alexander Carballo was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 86 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Alexander Carballo got a free kick in the 86th minute. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fabrício Dionísio in the 87th minute of the match. 88 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Leonardo de Lara came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
