Costa Rica's players were relieved. After 6 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Alan Moruga. After 8 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Alexander Carballo. After 10 minutes, Gregorio Hotz made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Aaron Cutberto took the ball and in the 16 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. Arnoldo Arotza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 21st match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lautaro Puig to maneuver through the defense. 23 minutes into the match, Espirillo FC's goal looked a bit too open when Lautaro Puig came free, but Jorge Iztal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 30th match minute, Espirillo FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arturo Edwardo to maneuver through the defense. Cristo Elia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. Gregorio Hotz scored 5-0 in the 34th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benito Sanz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Espirillo FC's Cristo Elia got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gregorio Hotz received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Benito Sanz came out and tried to block the shot, but Gregorio Hotz slotted it home off the left post making it 6-0 in the 38th minute. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Eliseo Noboa got a free kick in the 42nd minute. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 44th minute of the match, managed to save Costa Rica from getting a goal against them. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gregorio Hotz to make the kick off. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristo Elia in the 52nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gregorio Hotz in the 54th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Espirillo FC booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Abel Carballo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 63 minutes, Alan Moruga mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Costa Rica and the Espirillo FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Benito Sanz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gregorio Hotz's shot from short distance in the 68th minute. When the match clock showed 68 minutes, the score became 7-0 when Gregorio Hotz sped through Costa Rica's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. Cristo Elia took the ball and in the 70 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 8-0. Benito Sanz came out of the goal in the 73rd minute to try and stop a shot by Espirillo FC's Gregorio Hotz. But to his dismay, Gregorio Hotz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 9-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gregorio Hotz in the 76th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 77 minutes into the match, Cristo Elia notched a goal, 10-0, to the right of Costa Rica's Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The Espirillo FC fans' excitement grew in the 80th match minute when Espirillo FC's Cristo Elia looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 11-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. If Axel Tasis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Gregorio Hotz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. In the 92nd minute, Cristo Elia made a precise shot to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 13-0. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gregorio Hotz in the 95th minute of play. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Espirillo FC had played much better football throughout.
