Lars Norberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 34 minutes of play, Uruguay's Maximiliano Escribano made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Joaquin Gayoso made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Kaj Hård sent off a good shot on target. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Francisco Seco was the one to do the kick off. 洪岚泉 hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Francisco Seco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 58 minutes into the match, spikarna's goal looked a bit too open when Maximiliano Escribano came free, but Lars Norberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kaj Hård in the 60th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Joaquin Gayoso prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 63rd minute of the match Rickard Alefors shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Joaquin Gayoso showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Kaj Hård had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Camilo Franco's late challenge caught a spikarna's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Camilo Franco helped the player get up and apologised. In the 65th match minute, Uruguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Franco to maneuver through the defense. After 94 played minutes Uruguay got a freekick which was hit by Jorge Sainz. Uruguay were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
