After 26 played minutes Quetzal Flyers Hammers got a freekick which was hit by Mark Noble. Francesco Marines came out of the goal and Tomas Illescas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tony Cote could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Jonathan Ferrant made a huge save. When the match clock showed 38 minutes, the score became 3-1 when Sonny Perkins sped through Venezuela's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Sonny Perkins ran back to his position shaking his head. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomas Illescas to make the kick off.
