When Luis Andino fell near the penalty area in the 2nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ecuador's protests and gave Luis Andino a yellow card for diving instead. Luis Andino hit a great freekick 2 minutes into the match. Simbo FC's Mías Khalifa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 6th minute of play. After 7 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Camilo Gisbert. 11 minutes into the match, Simbo FC's Tincho Palermo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 13 minutes into the game, Simbo FC's Tincho Palermo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Mías Khalifa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 16th minute of play. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tincho Palermo in the 18th minute of the match. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 23rd match minute, Simbo FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlos Trinidad to maneuver through the defense. In the 26th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Simbo FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Sabri Ravelli in the 27th minute. 30 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mías Khalifa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Cristian Sancho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mías Khalifa was relentless in the 35th minute of the game. Tincho Palermo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 46 played minutes Simbo FC got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Trinidad. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.
The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Simbo FC's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mías Khalifa came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nestor Sancho in the 56th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tincho Palermo in the 62nd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 62nd minute, Tincho Palermo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Simbo FC's Niceto Nafarroa was substituted for Boleslaw Sidorowicz. 68 minutes into the match, Luis Andino dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Mías Khalifa, 2-1. Mías Khalifa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 73rd minute of the match. Piotr Ostrowski hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. In the 81st minute, Felix Montenegro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 86th minute Miliano Sacristán shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 88th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 90 minutes into the match, Miliano Sacristán had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Miliano Sacristán was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. In the 95th minute, Miliano Sacristán ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1. Many of Ecuador's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but Simbo FC were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
