The crowd rose to their feet as Cetatea Suceava's Emil Bălan slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ali Nejat Özertem. That made the score 1-0 after 17 minutes of play. Ali Nejat Özertem made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristiano Ronaldinho in the 22nd minute of play. Liviu Aldulescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ricardinho Dantas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Colombo A.C.'s Ali Nejat Özertem proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save Colombo A.C. from getting a goal against them. 39 minutes into the game, Colombo A.C.'s Ricardinho Dantas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Liviu Aldulescu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. If Cristian Elian had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Shi Zhi Si struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Ali Nejat Özertem didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cetatea Suceava. Colombo A.C.'s Aitor Cintron was substituted for Adrien Caillol. The audience was convinced that Ricardinho Dantas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Liviu Aldulescu was relentless in the 63rd minute of the game. After some careless play in the Cetatea Suceava defense, Ricardinho Dantas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Liviu Aldulescu. The Cetatea Suceava fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Liviu Aldulescu should have stopped the shot. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Colombo A.C. eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
