Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Costa Rica's defense didn't have a chance, in the 4th minute, when Elliott Falcão scored to the left of an out of position Benito Sanz, making the score, 1-0. Juan Rubio charged in rather forcefully in the 7th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Juan Rubio the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Juan Rubio hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. A hard shot by Celestino Eli from long distance, 7 minutes into the match, got Benito Sanz's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 9th minute Angelo Grabiel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Benito Sanz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Angelo Grabiel's shot from short distance in the 18th minute. 20 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Elliott Falcão came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With his leg Benito Sanz managed to avoid a goal in the 24thth minute, when River de Ramos Mejía's Gabriel-Omar Batistuta fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Benito Sanz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Elliott Falcão in the 25th minute. With splendid footwork Angelo Grabiel arrived in front of goal to shoot 8-0 by the left pole in the game's 37th minute. Elliott Falcão succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 9-0 in the 40th playminute. With an all-out effort, River de Ramos Mejía's Benito Sanz threw himself towards the right post 44 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Angelo Grabiel, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Benito Sanz came out of the goal in the 51st minute to try and stop a shot by River de Ramos Mejía's Alejo Maties. But to his dismay, Alejo Maties quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 10-0. Benito Sanz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Elliott Falcão's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alejo Maties in the 57th minute of the match. River de Ramos Mejía's Ragnar Løth was substituted for Marcelo Arias. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elliott Falcão in the 73rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in River de Ramos Mejía's zone, Lautaro Puig stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eleuterio Maureo came out of the goal and Lautaro Puig tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gabriel Eguntsenti scored 13-0 in the 89th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benito Sanz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gabriel Eguntsenti in the 92nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benito Sanz saved Costa Rica from getting behind.
