Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when Pankracy Malicki sent off a good shot on target. 23 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mikolaj Jerzyk narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Newcastle United's Mikolaj Jerzyk played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 25th minute of play. 25 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Mikolaj Jerzyk was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 29th minute Agustín Saelices shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mikolaj Jerzyk saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 30 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Adam Pacholewski came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 32 minutes, Julian Obuchowicz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Newcastle United and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 32 played minutes Newcastle United got a freekick which was hit by Julian Obuchowicz. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Thomas Vollmar in the 34th minute of play. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Mikolaj Jerzyk tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marian Erland hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. Mikolaj Jerzyk took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 46th minute. The corner led to Ecuador's Daniel Zorita getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

53 minutes into the match, Newcastle United's goalkeeper Mikolaj Jerzyk had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. In the 54th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Newcastle United's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 58th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristian Sancho to maneuver through the defense. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thomas Vollmar in the 67th minute of play. Olgierd Wojtowicz kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. In the 70th minute, Olgierd Wojtowicz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 71st minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pankracy Malicki in the 72nd minute of play. Zé Paulo Zonta made a great header on Newcastle United's corner, it was just that Ecuador's Julio Vera managed to reach the ball for a save. Newcastle United's Mikolaj Jerzyk proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save Newcastle United from getting a goal against them. In the 80th minute of the match Daniel Zorita sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mikolaj Jerzyk skillfully saved the ball. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Thomas Vollmar's shot from short distance in the 85th minute. In the 87th minute Newcastle United were awarded a corner. Zé Paulo Zonta went to the cornerflag to take it. 88 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Zé Paulo Zonta was slow to take the kick. During this time Newcastle United's players had a chance to rest. After 91 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Agustín Saelices. For all the effort they put into the match, the Ecuador players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Newcastle United.
