In the 15th minute, Luis Andino ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Şenol Güneş was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. 19 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. David Gagriel was slow to take the kick. During this time LOS MENTI's players had a chance to rest. LOS MENTI's David Gagriel was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Julio Vera in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Şenol Güneş read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 22nd minute of play. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Faustino Cedro in the 23rd minute of play. 汪常然 could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. Juan Sebastián Puig's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Şenol Güneş read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. After 41 minutes of play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Şenol Güneş was left in no man's land by his defense there! Felix Montes hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. David Gagriel hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. Thanks to some nice moves Daniel Zorita could shoot a difficult shot in the 52nd minute, which Şenol Güneş however easily saved by the left post. Daniel Zorita who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 52ndth minute tested the skills of Şenol Güneş when he managed to save the team from getting behind. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, LOS MENTI's Şenol Güneş got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Şenol Güneş didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Felipe Pereyra's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Felipe Pereyra helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, LOS MENTI's Felipe Pereyra got a free kick in the 61st minute. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Şenol Güneş made a fantastic save in the 66th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. In the 71st match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Montes to maneuver through the defense. LOS MENTI's David Gagriel got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 76 minutes into the game, Teodosio Oinaz cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. LOS MENTI's Arnaldo Ticho was substituted for Marco George. 80 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when 汪常然 came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from 汪常然, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to LOS MENTI getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. David Gagriel hit a great ball. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teodosio Oinaz in the 88th minute of play. Juan Sebastián Puig fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Şenol Güneş having to interfere. 95 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Teodosio Oinaz came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 96th minute 汪常然 shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
