The crowd rose to their feet as LOS MENTI's Marco George slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Julio Vera. That made the score 1-1 after 32 minutes of play. After 35 minutes of play, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Şenol Güneş was left in no man's land by his defense there! 38 minutes into the game, 汪常然 was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. LOS MENTI's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. After having played for 72 minutes, Luis Andino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luis Andino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
