The corner led to Stiinta-Univ.'s Tomasz Gacek getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Traian Curuțiu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Edgardo Dalmai hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Martin Crețu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Traian Curuțiu in the 15th minute of the match. If Okan Koc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. But to his dismay, Ahmet Hasan Keyfer quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. Stiinta-Univ.'s Șerban Rușanu was substituted for Virgil Oargă. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Juan Eduardo Guerrero to strike the kick off in the second half. 59 minutes into the match, Stiinta-Univ.'s goalkeeper Martin Crețu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Juan Eduardo Guerrero. Jailson Abraão didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Shi Ming Sheng went, in the 92nd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-4 was the resulting score. Shi Ming Sheng sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Martin Crețu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Philip Åkerman in the 98th minute of play.
