Dursun Ekinci showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 9th minute of the match. Dursun Ekinci showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. In the 14th minute Conrado Romero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dursun Ekinci having to interfere. 19 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Conrado Romero came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Felix Montenegro hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dursun Ekinci breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stanislaw Rekowski in the 63rd minute of play. Dursun Ekinci took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Stanislaw Rekowski sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gençlerbirliği's Jean-Claude van Damme was substituted for Conrado Romero.
