Olivedos's Abelardo Maranhense played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lorenzo Cazalla in the 9th minute of play. Cássio Ferraz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Dante Lacasa made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 15th minute of play forced Olivedos's goalkeeper Abelardo Maranhense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 17 minutes into the match, Olivedos's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but Abelardo Maranhense reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Abelardo Maranhense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lautaro Mancebo in the 21st minute of play. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abel de Godoi in the 30th minute of play. A collision led to Mexico getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Joel Gaona hit a great ball. In the 33rd minute Abel de Godoi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 36th minute, Luca Rouco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Joel Gaona scored 0-1 in the 39th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Abelardo Maranhense, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Abelardo Maranhense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. The supporters of Mexico booed when Olivedos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís Novaes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Abelardo Maranhense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Cássio Ferraz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Dante Lacasa made a huge save. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Joel Gaona to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 51st minute of play forced Olivedos's goalkeeper Abelardo Maranhense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Mexico defense, Rômulo Custódio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dante Lacasa. The Mexico fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dante Lacasa should have stopped the shot. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cássio Ferraz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luca Zorita took the ball and in the 59 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Abelardo Maranhense. Abelardo Maranhense dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 66th minute of play forced Olivedos's goalkeeper Abelardo Maranhense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Abelardo Maranhense made a fantastic save in the 72nd minute, when Luca Zorita sent off a good shot on target. In the 78th minute Cássio Ferraz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 80th minute, Joel Gaona left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Mexico fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. 90 minutes into the match, Olivedos's goalkeeper Abelardo Maranhense had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alberto Tafalla. After a defensive mix-up in Olivedos's zone, Facundo Cadaval stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Abelardo Maranhense came out of the goal and Facundo Cadaval tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Abelardo Maranhense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Facundo Cadaval in the 95th minute of play.
