Rubén Urruti showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Moises Fernandino, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. When Moises Fernandino came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the El Salvador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Moises Fernandino couldn't finish the play. Marco Tamayo hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. In the 24th minute Baldemar Folch shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ricardo Zorita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Abram Luque kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. A beautiful save bye El Salvador's goalie prevented a goal. 45 minutes into the match, El Salvador's goalkeeper Ricardo Zorita had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mauricio Salazar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Charidimos Papandreou got free with Ricardo Zorita in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Charidimos Papandreou was the one to do the kick off. Jesus Carvallo's late challenge caught a Sitges's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jesus Carvallo helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to El Salvador getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Jesus Carvallo hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Charidimos Papandreou in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ricardo Zorita prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 57 minutes into the match, Baldemar Folch notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of El Salvador's Ricardo Zorita. Ricardo Zorita was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a rather tough play, El Salvador's Moises Fernandino got a free kick in the 60th minute. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. Ivar Carlsson charged in rather forcefully in the 96th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ivar Carlsson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 96th match minute, Sitges was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ivar Carlsson to maneuver through the defense. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Sitges fully deserved thier win.
